The tech world is always fascinating and unpredictable. While the Apple iPhone 16 lineup was only launched a few months ago, rumors about the iPhone 17 and 18 series are already circulating. Previously, we discussed some concept images of the iPhone 17, and now, we have an intriguing leak about the iPhone 18 Pro to cover.

Based on Apple’s previous release patterns, the iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in September 2025, with the iPhone 18 series following in September 2026. While there’s still some time before the iPhone 18 series arrives, be prepared for ongoing leaks and rumors leading up to its release.

The Apple iPhone 18 Pro may feature support for a variable aperture in its cameras.

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple plans to introduce variable aperture support in the iPhone 18 Pro’s cameras, with the Pro Max likely receiving the feature as well. Interestingly, previous reports suggested that this feature was initially expected to debut with the iPhone 17 series.

It seems that Apple has either abandoned its plan to introduce variable aperture with the iPhone 17 lineup or the circumstances led to its delay. Either way, Apple fans will now have to wait until the iPhone 18 series to experience the variable aperture feature, a year after the iPhone 17 series launch.

If you’re not familiar with the term “variable aperture,” think of it this way: the aperture on a camera lens determines how much light enters the lens. This feature is found in most professional cameras and some flagship Android devices. However, a narrower aperture isn’t necessarily better than a larger one; it all depends on the desired effect and lighting conditions.

If you want to take a simple photo in broad daylight with everything in focus, a smaller aperture can be beneficial. However, if you’re looking to capture a photo without increasing ISO or exposure, a larger aperture may be more helpful. Ultimately, it all depends on your specific needs, and having a variable aperture would definitely be an advantage for more flexibility.
