The Nubia Flip 2 quietly surfaced online two months after its unexpected appearance at TENAA. This foldable phone boasts an upgraded cover screen, waterproof capabilities, and a new Mediatek chipset. ZTE has officially announced the Flip 2 in Japan and plans to begin sales next week.

The Nubia Flip 2 features a 6.9″ foldable AMOLED display on the inside, offering Full HD+ resolution and a punch-hole for a 32 MP front camera. Instead of an in-display fingerprint scanner, the sensor is located on the side, doubling as the power key.
The Nubia Flip 2 is equipped with two rear cameras, arranged vertically: a 50 MP main sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. The cover screen has been upgraded to 3 inches, with a resolution of 682 x 422 pixels. It allows for quick notifications and some app navigation, though Nubia has not revealed whether specific apps will be optimized for the smaller display.
The Nubia Flip 2 is powered by the Dimensity 7300X chipset, an adaptation of the regular 7300 designed specifically for dual-display smartphones like this foldable. It comes with 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM, running on Android 14.
The Nubia Flip 2 is equipped with a 4,300 mAh battery that supports PD 3.0 charging. Nubia claims it takes just 55 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. The device features an IPX2 waterproof rating (resistant to water drops) and an IP4X rating (protected against objects larger than 1 mm in diameter).
The official page of the Nubia Flip 2 highlights several AI features, including a customized assistant that integrates with local apps in Japan, such as Line. One notable feature is AI reply, which allows the phone to respond automatically when the user misplaces their device or simply doesn’t want to answer.
The Nubia Flip 2 is available in Black, White, and Blue colors. Priced at JPY 64,080 (approximately $410) on Yahoo! Mobile, it is set to go on sale on January 23.
