Samsung Galaxy S24 FE
Introduction
Samsung has launched the Galaxy S24 FE exactly one year after the Galaxy S23 FE, and it’s turned out just as anticipated—but with a twist. Instead of being a slightly larger version of the Galaxy S24, the S24 FE is a distinct spin-off of the Galaxy S24+.
In terms of design, the Galaxy S24 FE shares a lot of similarities with the S24+, featuring two Gorilla Glass panels, a flat metal frame, and three separate camera rings on the back. It also boasts an IP68 rating, ensuring durability against dust and water.
This year, Samsung has aligned the Galaxy S24 FE’s screen size with that of the Galaxy S24+, featuring a 6.7-inch OLED display. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t the same LTPO panel found in the Plus model. Instead, the S24 FE sports a 1080p OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S24 FE is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400e chip, which shares the same 10-core CPU and Xclipse 920 GPU as the Exynos 2400 in the S24+, albeit at slightly lower clock speeds. The RAM is capped at 8GB, which may not be ideal for everyone, but should suffice for most tasks, including AI applications.
When it comes to the camera system, the S24 FE features three rear cameras, including a 50MP primary camera with OIS, similar to the S24+. However, the telephoto lens is a more basic 8MP with 3x zoom, and the ultrawide lens is a 12MP fixed-focus. The front-facing camera is a familiar 10MP from previous Galaxy S models.
The Galaxy S24 FE is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery, supporting 25W wired charging and up to 15W wireless charging, along with reverse wireless charging.
In comparison to the Galaxy S23 FE, the new model offers just a few updates, namely the slightly larger display and the upgraded chipset. As such, it may not be seen as a significant upgrade option for current users.
