The Unexpected Surprise: Pixel 9 Pro XL Camera Bar Revelation
The Pixel 9 Pro XL is the flagship model in the Pixel 9 series (excluding the Pixel 9 Pro Fold) and is enjoying remarkable success this year, with shipments reaching a record high for any quarter in Pixel history. Key upgrades, such as enhanced battery life, innovative AI features, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a robust 16GB of RAM, have made the Pixel 9 Pro line particularly impressive.
Recently, a post on Reddit by a Pixel 9 Pro XL user has raised concerns about the camera bar on both Pixel 9 Pro models. User lakhip reported that he has kept his Pixel 9 Pro XL in a case since day one. However, he noticed the camera lenses fogging up after leaving the phone on the sink while he was showering. Interestingly, during his two years with the Pixel 7 Pro, he never experienced this issue when leaving the phone in the same spot.
A Pixel 9 Pro XL user was shocked to discover that the rear camera bar had detached from the back panel of his phone.
Surprised by the fogging of the camera lenses, the Pixel 9 Pro XL owner took the device out of its case, only to be stunned to find that one side of the rear camera bar was not attached. With a gentle tug, he was able to lift that side of the camera bar right off the rear panel. The owner emphasized that the phone had not been dropped or subjected to any rough treatment.
With the camera bar not securely attached, the phone’s owner is worried about losing the water resistance that the Pixel 9 Pro XL is supposed to offer. He expressed that “basic water resistance is crucial for me. I’ve even taken my Pixel 7 Pro into the pool, and it performed perfectly. But now, even if my current device is just defective, I’m concerned that the same issue could occur with a replacement.”
The device owner visited the Google Store in New York, where he was informed that he needed to contact online support, as they didn’t have spare parts or a replacement phone available. However, after discussing the situation with a manager, he was able to obtain a new sealed unit from the back of the store. The maintenance team mentioned that this was an issue they had never encountered before and indicated they would escalate the matter.
